Just checked my soil pH for the first time in 3 years and got a shock

Honestly, I always figured my backyard soil was fine since stuff was growing okay. But I grabbed a $15 test kit from Lowe's last weekend and tested three different spots near my veggie beds. Turns out the pH was 8.2 in one corner, which is way too alkaline for tomatoes. I spent the afternoon mixing in some sulfur pellets based on the chart and I'm curious how long it'll take to see a difference. Anyone else had to do a big pH correction and actually track the results?

My neighbor did this and her soil ended up worse after, so now I'm scared to even test.

Read a university study that said timing matters more than anything with this stuff.

Did you retest after spreading the sulfur or just assume it worked?
