PSA: calibrating my oven took 3 weekends and a $12 thermometer to figure out
Kept burning the bottoms of my sugar cookies even on the middle rack and it drove me nuts. I thought my recipe was off so I tried 4 different butter brands and switched pans twice. Finally grabbed a cheap oven thermometer at a hardware store in Tulsa and saw my oven runs 45 degrees hot when it says 350. The dial lies, plain and simple. Took me almost a month of baking test batches before I figured that out. If your bakes keep coming out dark on the bottom, spend the 12 bucks before you blame yourself. What temp does your oven actually run at?
