Warning: My grandma's old bread proofing trick really does work

Honestly, I used to rush the proofing until my grandma told me to use a warmed oven with the light on. Tbh, it keeps the dough at just the right temp without getting too hot. Ngl, my loaves come out way more consistent and fluffy now. It's a simple thing but it made all the difference for my weekend baking.

Isn't that the best trick? I was stubborn about trying it for ages, but my dough would always proof weirdly on the counter. Finally gave the oven light a shot last winter and it was like a switch flipped. My sourdough stopped being so moody about the room temperature. Now I get a good rise every single time without even thinking about it.

Yeah, that oven light trick is solid. My bread used to proof weirdly on the counter too, always too slow or too fast. Tried the warmed oven method on a whim and it fixed everything. Now I get consistent rises without even trying. It's one of those things that seems obvious after you hear it, but you never think of it yourself. Grandma wisdom beats kitchen gadgets every time.

Guess my old method was just half-baked then.

Wait, you guys were proofing bread on the counter before this? I'm shocked. I just assumed everyone used the oven light trick. My dough would sit there for hours looking sad and flat if I left it out. I tried putting it near a heater once and it just made a weird crusty skin. The oven is the only place it ever actually works for me.
