Baking oatmeal cookies from scratch calmed my nerves today
I was feeling really jittery and couldn't sit still. Baking a batch and having them come out soft and chewy just put me at ease. Do you ever bake just to feel better?
Baking would make my nerves way worse. All that measuring and waiting around. The cleanup alone is a huge hassle. I need to move when I'm stressed, not stand in one spot. A long walk or just putting on loud music works better for me. The kitchen is the last place I'd go to calm down.
Totally get the loud music thing. If I'm stressed, I need something fast and angry to match the energy. Old punk rock does it for me, like the Ramones. Blast that for twenty minutes while I pace around my room and I'm way more settled. It's like the music burns the bad feeling right out.
