Appreciation post: My beard trims went from taking 25 minutes to just 12 after I started using a second mirror.

I added a small hand mirror behind the client's head about six months ago, and seeing the back of the fade in real-time while I cut completely changed my speed and precision.

Honestly, that's genius. I've been cutting my own hair for years and never thought of that. My bathroom wall mirror and I have a strained relationship because of blind spots. Tbh my last self-fade looked like I did it in the dark with gardening shears. Gonna try the second mirror trick this weekend, my neck can't take another hour of guesswork.

Pro tip, get a cheap standing mirror from a thrift store. Put it behind you facing the wall mirror. Game changer for seeing the back of your head. Go slow with the clippers, check after every pass.

Have you considered just using your phone camera on video mode? I tried the two mirror method and found it made me dizzy trying to line everything up. I prop my phone up on the sink, start a video, and then I can just turn around and check the recording. It shows the back of my head in real time without the neck strain.
