Clipper fade trick I refuse to ditch despite what everyone says
I keep my clipper lever slightly open when doing a zero gap fade even though every barber in my shop tells me to close it all the way, and my blends come out way smoother with less harsh lines. Has anyone else tried leaving it halfway on purpose and actually gotten better results?

Peeped the 60 percent thing - are you seeing less scalp through the fade with that sweet spot?

Wait have you tried opening the lever just a little more than halfway? Tbh I do something similar where I keep it like 60 percent open for the first pass then close it bit by bit as I go up. It stops those random bald spots you get when the blade is too tight. Honestly most barbers just follow what they were taught without testing stuff like this.

You ever try opening it to like 75 percent instead of just over half? I find that gives a smoother blend on the first pass without making too big of a jump between the open and closed lever settings. The bald spots usually come from going too tight too fast, not necessarily from the lever position itself. A lot of guys skip the intermediate steps and just slam it shut right away, which messes up the fade.
