Clipper oil is overrated for fade work in my experience

I stopped using clipper oil mid-fade about 3 months ago on a busy Saturday in Columbus. I had a guy with super thick hair and the oil just made everything gum up worse. Switched to a dry blade with some cooling spray only and got a way cleaner blend. Has anyone else noticed oil causing more drag on certain hair types?

Two summers ago I had a kid with curly hair and the clipper oil made his trims look patchy as hell.

Right, oil clogs up curly hair and makes the cut look so choppy.

Man, that exact thing happened to me last year with my own nephew. I thought I was being slick using oil on his thick curls and ended up with this weird patchy mess near his temples. Looked like a lawn mower skipped a spot. I learned real quick that curly hair hates oil near the clipper, it just slides off and leaves those nasty bald strips. Now I just spray some water and go dry, much cleaner cuts even if I get hair all over my shirt.
