The straight razor shave I did last month changed how I see my clipper work
Guy came in wanting a full hot towel shave before his wedding. I've been cutting hair for 8 years and never really pushed the service. Did it, took 45 minutes, charged $50. The next week I noticed my regular fades were sharper because I slowed down and paid attention to every pass. Anyone else find that doing one slow, detailed service makes you better at your normal cuts for a few days?

Occasionally forcing yourself to slow all the way down like that works wonders. It resets your hands and your eyes for a few days after, most of the customers notice the difference even if they can't say why.

It's like when you force yourself to cook a fancy meal from scratch and suddenly your everyday pasta tastes better for a week. Slowing down once reminds your hands what they're supposed to be doing.
