A client in Nashville handed me a napkin and I wrote my price on it, best move in 4 months
Two weeks ago I had coffee with a bakery owner in Nashville who wanted a new logo and some menu boards, and when she asked what I charge I grabbed the paper napkin under my cup and wrote down one number, the full project fee, instead of my hourly rate. She looked at it for a second, said okay, and we shook on it right there while the coffee was still hot. Before this I would hem and haw on the phone for days and sometimes cut my rate just to end the awkward silence. Writing one clear number on something real made it feel done, not up for debate. Anyone else skip the hourly talk and just name the full price up front?
