A small win: Client agreed to my contract terms WITHOUT a single edit.

That's a scary feeling, for sure. It almost always means they skimmed it and will be shocked by a detail later. I've started to see a little back-and-forth as a good sign, too.

Had a guy skip reading his incident report before signing once. Later tried to argue the timeline when his own statement was right there. Paperwork finds a way.

Worry when that happens. No edits often means they didn't really read it. Saw the price and just signed. That leads to problems later when they realize what they agreed to. Had a client blow up over a basic revision clause they missed. Now I actually prefer some back-and-forth.

Totally get what you mean about preferring some back and forth. That "client blow up over a basic revision clause" is exactly the kind of thing that makes my stomach drop. It's like you can see the future argument coming the second they just scribble their name. I'd much rather spend ten minutes talking it through than ten months dealing with the fallout.
