Updated my rate sheet after a client in Denver told me my per-word pricing was too low for rush jobs.

I used to just charge $0.10 per word for everything but after three weeks of back to back overnight edits for $150 I shifted to a $0.20 base with a 1.5x rush multiplier and now I actually sleep through the night.

honestly i think you were way too low before. $0.10 per word for rush jobs is basically working for free when you factor in the sleep you lose and the stress. i made that mistake for a year and burned out so hard i almost quit freelancing altogether. your new rates sound way more sustainable. the 1.5x rush multiplier is smart too because it actually makes clients think twice before demanding overnight turnaround. if they still say yes at least you get paid for the pain. good on you for making that change.

Paid for the pain" is right, I charged so little I was basically paying for the privilege of working.

Man I don't know, seems like y'all are making this way more complicated than it needs to be. I just tell people my price and if they don't like it they find someone else, no need for all these multipliers and stuff. @abby_fisher sounds like you might be overthinking it too.
