Had to pick between a steady retainer and a passion project last month
I got offered a 12-month retainer with a real estate agency in Austin for $2k a month, but I also had this creative gig doing social media for a local food truck. I went with the retainer because the money was guaranteed. 3 weeks in and I already feel like I'm dying inside doing boring listing posts. Has anyone else turned down decent paying work just to keep your sanity?

Did your buddy ever try that food truck gig for a while? I had a friend who turned down a solid 18 month contract with a construction company to run socials for a taco joint. He lasted about 4 months before he was back to doing boring office work, but he always said those 4 months of freedom were worth the struggle. The tacos were pretty good too, so at least he got fed.
