Realized my "power through it" attitude was making everything worse after I crashed hard on a Tuesday afternoon last fall.
I started forcing myself to take a 15 minute walk outside after every 90 minutes of work and my afternoon slump completely disappeared, anyone else find a simple timer trick that actually works?

...and then I realized the problem wasn't willpower at all, it was just my brain chemistry. That "power through it" thing is basically running on empty for hours. When I finally crashed, it felt like I hit a wall made of bricks. The timer trick works for me too but I actually set two timers. One for 20 minutes of focused work, then a forced 5 minute break where I stand up and stretch. No phone, no screens. Just staring at a wall or out the window. That reset button is a lifesaver.

Oh man, the two timers thing is genius but I actually do something weirder. I set a timer for 10 minutes of work, then I get up and dump two ice cubes down my shirt. Sounds crazy but the cold shock actually snaps your brain out of that fog way faster than just staring at a wall. My ADHD coach called it "sensory reset" and honestly it works better than coffee for those mid-day crashes where you're just staring at the screen with nothing happening upstairs.
