Struck up a chat with a barista who used to freelance and she dropped a gem on me

She said she schedules "worry time" for 15 minutes every afternoon so the stress doesn't bleed into her whole day. Has anyone else tried boxing up their anxiety like that?

yeah I do this but with a timer cause I'll spiral if I don't cut it off exactly at 15 minutes.

The timer trick saved me from going down rabbit holes too.

Read somewhere that this comes from a guy named Dr. Nejad who used to treat people with Parkinson's. He told patients to set aside a specific time for worrying and it actually helped them stop obsessing during the rest of their day. The brain learns to hold off on the panic because it knows there's a designated slot coming up later. Kinda like training a dog to wait for its food instead of begging all afternoon.
