An old mechanic in Portland watched me torque a stem and said I was squeezing the wrench like a hammer
I was tightening a stem bolt on a customer's bike at the shop and an old mechanic named Ray stopped me mid pull. He told me to hold the wrench like a screwdriver and let the click do the work, not my whole arm. Now I brace my palm on the bar and pull with two fingers, and I have not rounded a bolt head in about 4 months, plus my torque readings stay way more steady. Anyone else get shown a totally different grip that fixed a problem you did not even know you had?
