PSA: My bottom bracket fix after thinking I'd mess it up

Bottom brackets used to freak me out, all those parts and special tools. Had this old road bike in the shop with a stuck crank, so I had to go for it. Took everything apart slowly, cleaned out years of gunk from the frame. Putting in the new cartridge felt good, like it actually fit right. When I tightened it all and the crank spun smooth, I was so pumped. It's a basic job for some, but for me it was a big confidence boost. Now I'm less scared to open up other tricky areas on bikes. Just had to tell people who know what this feels like.

Holy cow! You cleaned out years of gunk? That stuff is like concrete mixed with dirt, must have been a huge mess. @daniel_carter was curious about the break, but I'm stuck on how you even got it all out. Seriously, that cleanup job sounds worse than the actual fix. Spinning smooth after all that must have felt amazing.

Nice, getting over that first big repair feels amazing.

What finally broke, and did it cost a fortune to fix?

Honestly that gunk was so bad I almost just bought the bike a new house instead.
