That Tuesday I trued 14 wheels and only made 60 bucks
Last Tuesday I spent 7 hours truing 14 wheels for a local race team and the shop paid me flat rate, so it worked out to about $8.50 a wheel. The team manager shook my hand and said the wheels felt perfect, but I still went home wondering if I should've just said no to the job. How do you all handle race team work when they want a bulk deal?

Man, that stings. $8.50 a wheel when a normal true job at most shops runs $20 to $30 each, so you basically gave that team a 60% discount for a full day of your hands and eyes. I've been there with bulk gigs and it always feels bad after, even when the manager is happy, because happy doesn't pay your rent. Next time maybe quote them a flat day rate instead of per wheel, like $250 for the day no matter how many they bring, so you're not the one eating it when they hand you 14 instead of 6.
