Just realized my 50% upfront rule is why I keep losing good clients
Everyone in my Facebook group swears by 50% upfront, but after losing two $3,000 jobs in Austin last week because of it, I think it scares off the reliable ones. Am I crazy for thinking net 30 with a real late fee gets me better clients than the deposit thing?
Two $3,000 jobs in Austin gone this week tells me the deposit wasn't the problem, it was how you framed it. Net 30 with a late fee sounds nice on paper but chasing invoices for 60 days is way worse than asking for half up front.
