Just finished season 3 of The Expanse and everyone says it gets better but I'm bored
I pushed through to season 4 after a friend swore it picks up around episode 7, but I'm still waiting for something interesting to happen. Am I missing something or should I just drop it for another show?

... and I honestly think you're maybe just not paying close enough attention? Season 3 has the whole mutiny on the Agatha King, the protomolecule stuff on Io, and then the ring opening. That's like the most action packed season in my opinion. Miller coming back as a vision and the crazy slow zone mystery kept me glued to my screen. But hey, if you're bored by all that then this show might just not be for you, which is fine.

The Io episode where they lose the escape pod is where I almost quit, but I powered through because a friend told me the payoff was worth it. Season 3 definitely has a lot going on, but I get why someone would get bored if they're not into the slow burn mystery of the protomolecule. I'd actually suggest skipping season 4 entirely if you want to avoid the talking heads, or just read the wiki summary and jump to season 5. The show does get back to the action with Marco and the free navy stuff later on, but it's a slog to get there if you're not in the right mood. Have you tried watching with the subtitles on to catch all the details you might miss?

Read somewhere that the books are way better at explaining the slow zone stuff, the show kinda rushes through it. Season 4 gets real political with the colony on Ilus, but it's more talk than action for a while. Might be worth checking out the books instead if the show's dragging for you.
