My brother swore the 10 minute rule would save me from bad shows and he was dead right
Last month my brother told me to give any new show exactly 10 minutes before I decide to keep watching or ditch it. I thought that was way too short like how can you judge a whole series off 10 minutes right? But I tried it on The Bear gave it 10 minutes and was hooked immediately. Then I tried it on a few other shows and it saved me hours of boring stuff I would have pushed through. Now I use the 10 minute rule every time I start a new binge. Anyone else got a quick rule for deciding if a show is worth it?

Wait, so you're telling me I've been wasting hours of my life forcing through shows that probably weren't worth it? I used to think you had to give a series at least two or three episodes before you could really know if it was good. My buddy always said that too, so I just kept pushing through stuff that never got better. But your brother's 10 minute rule actually makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. I'm gonna try it out on my next show, maybe it'll stop me from sitting through three boring seasons of something I hated from the first scene.

Right? Three seasons seems like a lot just to figure out you hated it from the first scene.

Have you ever read that study about how people make up their minds on a show in the first 7 minutes? I saw it somewhere and it totally backs up the 10 minute rule. Three seasons is brutal though, I'd be so mad at my buddy for giving that advice haha.
