TIL: My all-night 'Coastal Getaway' session came with a cleanup charge

I took a building job in a seaside town and rented a cabin for the week. After work, I tried 'Coastal Getaway', a show about fixing up old beach houses. It hooked me fast. I blew through the full season before sunrise. I passed out and slept past my checkout time. In my hurry to leave, I skipped cleaning up the kitchen and living area. The rental owner found the mess and added a fee to my bill. The show is good for binging, but maybe not when you have to be out the door early.

Yikes, that's a rough way to end a trip. I've seen a bunch of posts online where people get so into those fixer shows they start seeing demolition projects everywhere, even in their own spotless kitchen. It's like the shows put you in a zone where real world chores just... vanish. You basically paid for the show twice, once with your streaming fee and once with that cleanup charge. Those home makeover marathons are dangerous like that.

Yeah I always thought those cleanup charges were kinda unfair, but your point about paying for the show twice is spot on. Now I get why they have them.

That "real world chores just vanish" zone is so real... what's the worst mess you've ever snapped out of to find?

That show Coastal Getaway has a way of making time disappear. I've totally been there, where you look up and it's 4 AM and you've got crumbs all over the counter. Your mind just checks out on basic cleanup when you're in the zone. It's a rough way to learn about rental policies, for sure.
