Bought a $200 propane forge off Amazon and it barely hits welding heat

I figured I'd save some cash instead of building my own forge, but this cheap one leaks heat like crazy and the burner sputters. After three tries adjusting the air mix I'm still stuck at orange heat. Anyone else regret skimping on a forge and wish they just welded one up from a kit?

Huh, you really think a $200 forge is supposed to weld? That's like buying a used lawnmower and expecting it to run a demolition derby. Forge welds need precise heat control and a lot more insulation than a cheap Amazon special is gonna give you. I'd say you got exactly what you paid for, and it's not the forge's fault you didn't research it first.

Yeah, no kidding. You bought a toy and expected it to melt steel. Build your own or save for something decent.
