My local game night group dissolved over a single rule in 'Root' three years ago

We had a solid crew of eight people meeting every Thursday at the library community room. Three years ago this month, we tried to play 'Root' for the first time, and a huge fight broke out about the Vagabond's scoring. One guy, Mark, insisted his interpretation of the 'aid' rule was correct, quoting a forum post from 2018. It got so loud the librarian asked us to leave. The group chat blew up for days, and we never met again. Has anyone else lost a whole gaming group over a single rule argument?

Remember a similar fight over Monopoly's auction rule.

Oh man, the auction rule fights were brutal... good times.

Yeah those auction rule fights got so heated. I read somewhere that people have actually stopped talking to each other over that exact rule.
