Serious question, pulling out my old Talisman set turned game night into a rulebook fight.

We used to play Talisman for hours in high school, just making up rules as we went. Last weekend, we tried to play it straight from the box, and nobody could agree on how the encounter cards worked. A huge blow up happened over whether you could trade with a dragon, and we just quit. It made me realize some games are better left as messy memories.

Messy memories is right. Was the fight really about the dragon, or more about missing how you used to play?

Trying to make old memories follow new rules always backfires, like @west.rowan said.

Honestly, I used to fight that idea but now it totally makes sense.
