Air lancing used to be simple, now everyone overcomplicates it

Back in '09 we had one air lance on the job in Gary, Indiana and we took turns with it. These days I see guys carrying three different lances and a compressor map just to clean a tube bundle. I get that fittings changed, but the old 3/4 inch pipe with a flattened tip still does 90 percent of the work. My own rule is keep one spare tip in the truck and fix the seal with tape if needed. Why are we buying into all the fancy nozzles when the basic setup never failed us? Anyone else still running the old school setup or am I just stuck in my ways?

Wait, you flattened the tip with a hammer or actual tools?
