That Tuesday in Gary that nearly got me killed

Ngl I had the worst shift of my career last Tuesday at a job in Gary Indiana. We were rigging a 40 ton boiler section into an old power plant and the chain hoist slipped about 6 feet before the safety caught. My foreman just yelled "hold the line" and nobody moved for a solid 10 seconds. Has anyone else dealt with a hoist failure that close to a drop?

That 10 second silence must have felt like an eternity. Heart was probably pounding right through your chest.

Yeah man, @henry150 nailed it. Best thing to do is count in your head during those dead air moments. One Mississippi, two Mississippi. Keeps you from panicking and blurting something dumb out. You ever try that trick during a rough call?
