A guy at my book club in Austin said he skips all the dialogue
We were talking about that new sci-fi book 'The Echo Chamber' last month, and this one guy just flat out said he only reads the descriptive parts. He called dialogue 'filler' and said he gets the plot faster without it. I tried to argue that you miss character voices and subtle clues, but he was set on his method. It made me wonder how many people actually read books this way. Has anyone else met a reader with a weird rule like that?

My buddy's wife only reads the last chapter of a mystery novel first. She says if the ending isn't satisfying, she won't waste time on the whole book. Ruined a bunch of Agatha Christie stories for herself that way. How can you even follow the clues if you know who did it?

Honestly I get it, I read spoilers for movies all the time. I have the attention span of a goldfish so I need to know if it's worth my time.

If you have a goldfish attention span, try reading the spoilers after the first act to still get some surprise.
