How a fight at my book club in Portland changed how I pick reads
Last month at our Portland book club, two members got into a heated argument about whether the main character in our novel was actually a hero. It got so loud the host almost called it off early. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a book pick cause real tension in their group and how you handled it?

Haha oh man, I used to think book fights were just drama for drama's sake but honestly that story kinda changed my mind. Now I get how a good debate can actually make you see the book in a whole new light.

Oh man, I gotta push back on that a little. Most book fights just turn into people yelling about their own takes without actually listening, and that doesn't help anyone see anything new. I've been in enough online arguments where everyone just walks away more stuck in their own head than before.

Same thing happens at work or even with friends. People get so locked into being right that they forget the whole point is to actually understand something different.
