Thought I was a houseplant pro until my pothos dropped 14 leaves in a month
For two years I watered my pothos every Sunday like clockwork because my mom always did hers that way back in Ohio. Last spring it started dropping leaves, and I figured it was just the dry air, so I watered it more. Then a guy at the plant swap in Riverside asked how deep I was checking the soil and I admitted I never had, just went by the calendar. Stuck my finger in and the bottom 3 inches were straight mud while the top looked bone dry. Now I lift the pot to feel the weight instead, and it's pushing out 5 new leaves this month. Anyone else grow up watering by schedule and have to unlearn it?
