Tried to grow a lemon tree from a grocery store seed and it actually worked

I mean, I just stuck a seed from a regular lemon in a pot last fall, not expecting much. Kept it by a south facing window in my kitchen and watered it maybe once a week. It sprouted after like three weeks and now it's a little plant, maybe 8 inches tall. Has anyone else had luck with this, or am I just getting lucky?

Nice! Did you do anything special to the seed first, like let it dry out?

Honestly I just soaked mine in water overnight before planting. Nora's right that it's not rocket science, but that little step made a big difference for me. My sprout came up way faster than last time.
