Overheard a homeowner call mortar 'brick glue' at the supply yard
Guy in front of me at the counter in Columbus asked for two bags of 'the strong glue that holds bricks together.' Clerk just handed him Type S without blinking. I bit my tongue, but it got me thinking how many folks have no clue what we actually do. Anyone else ever let a customer keep calling it that just to avoid a 20 minute explanation?

Man, I had a guy once call it "rock paste" and I just nodded along. Handed him the bag, took his money, and let him figure it out. He came back two weeks later with a sagging garden wall asking why it didn't hold. I told him the glue was fine, the rocks just wanted a vacation. Didn't charge him for the lesson, but I did write "use water, dummy" on his receipt.

Yep, next time tell him to wet the mix until it's oatmeal thick and walk away.
