Canned beans vs dried beans, my grandmother would shake her head

I finally tried making dried beans from scratch after 20 years of only using canned, figured it would save me a few bucks but honestly the time and gas on my stove did not make up for the $1.50 difference per meal. The texture was nicer though, I will give it that, but for a quick Tuesday dinner I am back to the can. Anyone else stick with canned and just accept the small cost?

Ever notice how everyone says dried beans are cheaper but nobody counts their own time and gas into the math? I went down that same rabbit hole a few years back, soaked em overnight, simmered for hours, and yeah the texture was better, but my stove ran hot for half a day for what, two bucks in savings? Canned beans are basically already cooked, which means I actually eat them instead of ordering takeout cause I forgot to soak anything.
