My $60 vacuum sealer paid for itself in 2 months, here's the math
I bought a cheap vacuum sealer off Amazon back in March because I was tired of throwing out half my groceries. Chicken goes on sale for $1.99 a pound at my local Kroger, so I started buying family packs and sealing them in single meal portions. In 8 weeks I saved about $85 just on meat that didn't get freezer burn or get tossed. Even the bags are cheap if you buy the generic rolls instead of the name brand. Anyone else found a specific store item that makes bulk buying actually worth it?

The relief of not peeling mystery ice crystals off a chicken breast is real, you know? I did the same thing with pork shoulder when it drops under a buck a pound, and my freezer actually looks like a place where meals live instead of a science experiment. The math works out even better when you catch the bag rolls on a sale, but even at full price it beats tossing a $12 pack of ground beef three weeks later. Just having the option to buy big without the panic of waste is worth it, honestly. Good for you for doing the thing we all know we should but keep putting off.
