My neighbor says you can't make a good chili for under $10, I did it for $8.50

Last week in my kitchen, I made a big pot of chili using a can of beans, a can of tomatoes, some ground turkey, and spices I already had. My neighbor saw me and said a real chili needs expensive cuts of beef and special chili powder, costing way more. My whole pot, with leftovers for three days, came to $8.50 from the Aldi in Springfield. Who thinks you need to spend a lot to make a filling meal?

Your neighbor's fancy chili powder can't beat my three days of leftovers.

Didn't a food writer say chili was made to be cheap and filling?

Told my friend the same thing after making chili with cheap sausage and pantry spices.

But is chili really a gourmet meal worth arguing over?
