My "budget" hostel in Prague cost more than a hotel
Last month I booked a 5-bed dorm in Prague for $28 a night because the pics looked solid, but the lockers needed a $5 deposit, the wifi was a separate $3 fee, and breakfast ran $8 extra. After the surprise add-ons, I paid closer to $44 and still had to climb a bunk bed with a stranger snoring above me. Has anyone else found that booking two-star hotels outside the center is actually cheaper once you add up all hostel extras?

Lisbon last year, same scam, $52 after fees for a dorm with mold in the shower.
