That's a solid trick. I do something similar by just moving any leftover cash from my checking account into savings on payday (out of sight, out of mind, you know).
Yeah that's the only way it works for me too. If I see the money sitting there, I'll find a way to spend it. Moving it right away makes it feel like it was never mine to begin with. Takes the temptation off the table completely. My savings finally started growing when I got strict about that.
Actually that's the opposite of what works for me. I need to see the money in my savings to feel motivated. Watching the number go up is the whole reward.
