inPro tip: Had to choose between two torque wrenches for a critical job
Holly's got a point, you can't just blindly trust the click. Miles_chen's story about the phantom wire is a perfect example of why. If the voltage setting is left too high, it might not click for a low voltage live wire, which is super dangerous. That calibration drift is real and sneaky. Checking it against a known source is the only safe way, like she does at work. Treating it like a perfect tool is how people get hurt.

inI just read that commercial bakeries in the 1950s often used ammonium carbonate instead of baking powder in some cookies, and it blew my mind.
So the smell is that strong, huh? My uncle used to mess with this stuff in his garage workshop for some reason... not baking, but something with leather maybe. The whole house would reek for hours like cleaning products. Makes me wonder, like paulnguyen said, if the wrong chemical would smell even worse. I'd open every window if I were you.

Honestly, that's a texture miracle right there.

inQuestion about going solo after years under a shop boss
But come on... is it really that big of a deal? Like victor_jenkins said, the client just paid and didn't complain. Maybe the price was actually fair for the work done. New people always worry they're charging too much, but sometimes the client thinks it's worth it. We don't even know what the service was. Making a mistake on your first rate doesn't mean you ruined someone's life or something. It's just part of figuring things out.

inA client in Seattle told me my contract was 'too vague' after a scope dispute.
My last contract had a clause about "reasonable revisions." The client decided that meant 17 rounds of changes on a logo, including one where they just made the blue a tiny bit sadder. Honestly, I now list the exact number of revision rounds, the file formats, and even the Pantone numbers. It feels like writing a manual for someone who's never seen a computer before.
