PSA: I found a way to cut my grocery bill by $40 a week without coupons
My problem was always the random stuff I'd grab at the big chain store. I started doing a pickup order at Aldi first for all my basics, and then only going to the other store for the two or three specific things I couldn't get there. In my experience, that second trip is way smaller and more focused. Has anyone else tried a similar two-store system that worked for them?

Wait you're only saving $40? That's wild. I do the same two store thing and it's way more for me. Like my Aldi run is almost the whole list. The other store is just for weird brand stuff my husband likes. You must have a tiny family or something.

My friend Sarah tried that two store thing last month. She went to Aldi first like you said. Got almost everything. Then hit the regular grocery for like three special items. When she did the math in the parking lot, she only saved 35 bucks. She has two teenage boys. Her cart was packed. She said it felt like a lot of work for not much payoff.

Sarah's 35 bucks might not sound like much, but that's a full tank of gas for her minivan right there (you know, the one hauling those two teenage boys). The real win is how it adds up. If she does that every week, that's over 150 bucks a month back in her pocket. For my budget, that's the difference between just paying bills and actually having some breathing room for a pizza night. It's not about one big score, it's the slow drip of savings that really counts.
