The index page myth that wasted half my journal

I spent months meticulously setting up an index page and never once used it. Finally ripped it out and just started threading my collections directly to the next spread, saved like 4 pages of dead space. Anyone else find the index useless or am I doing it completely wrong?

Just rip it out. Index pages are a waste if you don't use them regularly, and most people don't. Threading directly to the next spread is way more practical for actual journaling.

Oh wow, that's some aggressive advice for a Tuesday.

My index ended up being a collection of empty section headers and dates I never checked... @drews55 is right about the threading, I switched to just writing "continued on page 47" at the bottom of spreads and it flows way better.
