Wasted $130 on a fancy journal that fell apart in 3 weeks

I saw this leather bound journal with thick cream pages, looked amazing in the store. Got it home, the spine cracked on day 5. By week 3 the cover was peeling and pages started falling out. My old $8 grid notebook from Target is still going strong after 6 months. Has anyone else gotten burned by the pretty expensive journals? What actually holds up for daily use?

Three years ago I dropped $80 on a gorgeous hardcover planner, and by the second week the binding cracked so bad it looked like I'd drop-kicked it. The irony is I then taped it back together with duct tape and a cheap rubber band, and that ugly mess somehow lasted me a whole year. Pretty packaging might be a scam, but I'm clearly the fool who keeps falling for it.

Eighty bucks and it broke in two weeks? That's criminal... I'd have been back at the store raising hell before the month was even over.
