Hit 2,400 pounds of sausage in my first year and the number caught me off guard
Last Tuesday I finally added up my grind log for the year and it came to 2,400 pounds of sausage out of my little shop in Boise, which is way more than I thought I was pushing through a 1.5 horsepower grinder. I figured I was maybe doing half that, so seeing the real number made me think about whether I need a bigger stuffer or just a second set of hands on Saturdays. Any of you track your output like this, and did the number surprise you or was it right where you figured?
My sister is a nurse and she told me about a study from the University of Minnesota that found people who weigh themselves daily actually lost more weight and kept it off better than folks who avoided the scale. The number itself is not the point. It is the pattern you see over weeks that tells you if what you are doing is working. If the scale messes with your head that bad, maybe the problem is not the scale but how you are using it. Skipping it just means you are flying blind and going off how your jeans feel, which can trick you for a long time. What do you do instead to know if you are on track?
