An old splicer in Baton Rouge told me my meter was lying to me
I ran into a retired tech at a supply house off Airline Highway last month and he asked why I still trust the signal reading before I check the fittings. He said a loose connector fooled him for 17 years until he started wiggling every one before he blamed the plant. Now I do the wiggle test first, and it has saved me two truck rolls in three weeks. Anybody else get burned by a reading that looked fine until you touched it?
Seventeen years? He went seventeen years blaming the plant when it was a loose connector the whole time? That is wild, I would have lost my mind. I had a similar thing with a ground that looked solid on the meter until I put a wrench on it and it spun half a turn. Now I put hands on every connection before I trust anything the meter says, takes two extra minutes and saves me a whole afternoon. The reading lie is real, the wire does not.
