I always figured if the fish went down smooth the pull would be fine, so why waste time yanking on it. Then a guy named Ray on a job in Boise pulled up his phone and showed me 11 photos of cables he'd fished through insulation that felt solid but had nicked jackets, and the drop test caught every one before it got buried. Last Tuesday I did a drop test on a run I was sure was clean, and the cable slid a good 4 inches lower than it should have. How do you all handle runs where the drop test feels fine but something still seems off?
Learned that same lesson with checking tire pressure by kicking the tire, feels fine till it doesn't. That gut feeling you're getting is probably your hands picking up something your brain hasn't caught up to yet. Trust it and pull the cable back out.
