My hot roof job showed rushing causes errors.

I was up there replacing cable for three hours. Rushing led to loose connections, so I started going slower. How do you stop yourself from wanting to hurry on long installs?

Guess the sunburn wasn't a strong enough reminder to take your time.

My cousin tried to rush putting his deck together before a party last summer. He was so focused on finishing he didn't treat half the lumber properly. Now those boards are warped and splintered while the rest looks fine. Sometimes the reminder shows up way later than a sunburn.

Rushing on hot jobs is a sure way to make errors, and @dakotal49 is right about the sunburn not being enough of a warning. I learned the hard way on a rooftop AC unit install last year. Now I force myself to pause every hour to drink water and double-check connections. It feels slower at first, but redoing work takes way more time. Finding a steady pace makes the whole job less stressful and more solid.
