Noticed a huge shift in how we handle terminations over the last 5 years
I've been doing cable installs for about 7 years now, and I remember back in 2019 we used to spend a ton of time stripping and crimping each coax end by hand. Now with those compression connectors and better strippers, I can knock out a termination in under a minute. The push from ISPs to standardize on compression fittings really sped things up. Has anyone else seen their termination time drop that much in the same period?

Wait, did you say you used to do them all by hand? I used to fight with those old crimp connectors forever and I swore they were fine. But then my manager made us switch to compression fittings and I honestly felt stupid for resisting it for so long. The time savings are ridiculous, like I can do a whole apartment complex in half the time now. It's one of those things where you don't realize how slow you were going until you actually try the faster way.

Oh man, I feel that so hard. I was the exact same way with crimp connectors, thought they were just fine and anyone who said otherwise was being picky. Then my buddy talked me into trying compression and I about lost it realizing how much time I’d wasted being stubborn. It’s almost embarrassing looking back, like why did I fight this so long when the payoff is this obvious? But hey, at least we got there eventually, right?
