Warning: That cheap coax compression tool nearly ruined my whole job

Last Thursday I was out on a new build in Riverside, using a $12 compression tool I grabbed off Amazon. It slipped on the connector and I smashed my thumb pretty bad, then the fitting came loose inside the wall. Spent 3 hours pulling a new 100ft run of RG6 because of it. Has anyone else had a cheap tool cost them time like this?

Wait, you smashed your thumb AND had to pull a whole new 100ft line cause the fitting came loose inside the wall? That's brutal, man. I had a cheap ratcheting crimper once that just wouldn't bite right no matter how hard I squeezed it, ended up with three bad connections in a row before I threw it in the trash. Did you at least get your money back from Amazon for that thing?

Honestly @iris_barnes87, did you try to return it? I had the same thing happen with a cheap crimper from a hardware store, ended up just throwing it in the trash too because the return process was more hassle than it was worth.

Hold up, Iris said she bought it on Amazon. That's what I thought too but I just double checked, she actually got it from some no-name tool supplier's website. Not Amazon. Makes the return even worse honestly, those random sites always make you jump through hoops for a refund. But yeah, same deal with mine, three bad connections and straight to the trash. Some things just aren't worth the gas money to send back.
