Fixed a stuck mirror on a Pentax K1000 that had me stumped for a week

This old K1000 came in with a mirror that wouldn't drop after a shot. I tried the usual fixes, but the issue kept coming back. Finally, after taking it apart for the third time, I spotted a tiny piece of dried foam from the light seal stuck in the mirror box mechanism. Cleaned it out with some isopropyl and a toothpick, and it's been firing smooth for two days now. Anyone else run into weird gunk causing mirror lock-up on these?

Was it really the foam or something else?

Classic K1000 problems lol. That old foam turns to glue. Good find, that would drive anyone nuts.

Found a dead spider in my old Minolta's viewfinder once.
