I finally had to set strict rules after my kid messed with a half-fixed shutter
My three-year-old got into my workshop and poked at a Nikon FM2 I was working on. Now the spring tension is all off, and I have to start over. It's so frustrating when family doesn't get how delicate this stuff is. I'm thinking of getting a lock for my tool cabinet.

Ugh, been there. My five-year-old once scattered all the tiny screws from a lens disassembly across the carpet. I got a cheap metal lockbox from the hardware store for my in-progress projects and the really small parts. It’s not foolproof, but it stops the casual curious grab. The key stays on my own keyring so it’s never just lying around. Saved my sanity more than once.

Ever think a lockbox is overkill until you watch a toddler treat a $200 lens like a rattle? Mine once used my camera's lens cap as a frisbee straight into a dog bowl. Your metal box idea is starting to look less like paranoia and more like basic survival gear.
