Lost $60 on a lens cleaning solution that wrecked my patience
Picked up this supposedly professional sensor cleaning kit from a guy at a camera swap meet in Dayton. Spent $60 on it and turns out the swabs were way too rough, left streaks all over my mirrorless sensor. Took me two afternoons with a proper gel stick to fix the mess. Anyone else had bad luck with those no-name kits at swap meets?
Check the date code on those swab packages if you still got them, swap meet stock is usually old stock that sat in a hot garage for years and the solvent evaporates weird. Tbh, good chance that kit was returned by someone else who already wrecked their sensor and the guy just resold it to you.
Man, that's rough. The whole "returned by someone else who already wrecked their sensor" thing really got me, that's such a scummy move to pass that along. I feel for you, hope the sensor wasn't too pricey to replace.
