Unpopular opinion: That ultra-light stove isn't worth the hassle

Tried one of those fancy titanium stoves last trip. It failed in mild wind, and we had cold dinner. Now I stick with my old reliable one even if it's heavier.

Really? I used to chase lightweight gear too.

Man, everyone talks about the stove weight but forgets wind protection is separate gear. I've seen those tiny stoves just get bullied by a breeze, weak flame dancing around. Carrying a dedicated windbreak or even using a pot cozy as a shield is its own weight penalty, lol. So your "light" setup ends up needing more stuff anyway.

Totally agree with @robin896, my old setup needed a rock wall to even boil water.
